This course, Creating a Cartoon Monster in Maya 2020, will teach students how to create a character from the beginning. Students will learn how to use the modeling tools to model the character, including the Multi-Cut Tool, Quad Draw Tool, Bridge Tool, Extrude Tool, Mirror Tool, Edit Edge Flow, and Project Curve on Surface. They will also learn how to create the correct topology when modeling and the difference between a low resolution model and a high resolution model. Students will learn how to create the character's body, eyes, arms, hands, and horns, as well as the slime. They will learn how to create a UV map in order to place the proper texture onto the model, and how to use the HYPERSHADE, Arnold Standard Surface Shader, and other shaders to create skin, transparency, a metallic gold shader, and shiny reflections. They will learn how to create a camera and set the lighting, and how to use the render settings to get a final, professional looking rendered image. Finally, they will bring the rendered image into Photoshop to do some color correcting and create a final look for the character.
