Skills and Knowledge:
This course will provide students with the skills and knowledge to develop and deploy applications on the AWS platform. Students will learn to use Python on Linux to build a web application, as well as use Amazon EC2 and AWS Lambda compute services. They will also learn about object stores by saving and accessing images and video in Amazon S3, and use Amazon Rekognition to analyze images and video. Additionally, students will learn to manage collected data using the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS), refactor applications, increase availability using load balancing, and improve performance and durability using messaging and queuing with the AWS SNS messaging service and Amazon SQS queuing service. General AWS concepts such as Regions, Availability Zones, Virtual Private Clouds (VPCs), and Security Groups will also be covered. Students will use the AWS service APIs programmatically via AWS SDKs, the AWS CLI, and the AWS Cloud9 Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

Students will gain hands-on experience developing and deploying applications on the AWS platform, using Python on Linux.
