IITKGP's Biochemistry course is an introductory course that provides students with a basic understanding of biochemistry. The course covers the structure and function of biological macromolecules such as proteins, carbohydrates, lipids, and nucleic acids. It also covers fundamentals of enzyme chemistry, including kinetics, mechanisms, inhibition, structure, and mechanism. Additionally, the course touches on the basics of membrane transport and bioenergetic principles.
Upon completion of the course, students should be able to comprehend the chemical properties and three-dimensional structure of these biological macromolecules in relation to their biological function. This course is intended for core BSc/MSc/MS/PhD students and requires basic concepts in Chemistry and Biology as prerequisites. There is no industry support for this course.
