This Corporate Finance #9 Valuation-Bond Common &Preferred Stock course will provide an overview of the valuation of financial assets, including bonds, common stock, and preferred stock. Students will learn how to use present value concepts and calculations to determine the value of these assets. The course will include example problems presented in both presentation and Excel worksheet formats. The Excel worksheets will include a downloadable Excel workbook with two tabs, one with the answer and the second with a preformatted worksheet that can be completed in a step-by-step process along with instructional videos. The course will cover the cash flow related to bonds, which generally consists of a series of interest payments and a principal payment at maturity of the bond. Annuity calculations will be used to determine the present value of the interest payments and present value of one calculation to determine the present value of principal at maturity. The course will also cover the valuation of preferred stock, which has characteristics similar to bonds, and common stock, which can be more complex as we consider the future cash flow of dividends in an attempt to value the securities.
