This course provides exploration geophysicists, multi-discipline interpreters, operation and interpretation geologists, and targeted processing analysts with an introduction to lithology and rock physics, the elastic theory, wave propagation, and seismic reflection theory and its application in acquisition. Participants will learn the key theories to ensure optimum data quality, best practices, and the most recent seismic 2D and 3D data interpretation technologies used onshore and offshore. They will gain an understanding of the main geophysical terms, resolution, correlation, aliasing in time and space domains, and key tools and techniques to assist in the selection of field acquisition and processing parameters. Participants will also have the opportunity to design, practice, and evaluate data quality in challenging environments, as well as gain a comprehensive knowledge of new acquisition and processing techniques and improvement of practical skills. Finally, they will understand the methodology of seismic data structural and stratigraphic interpretation and its application. This course is intended for those who have some knowledge in the basics of geophysics and seismic methods.
