This course provides basic information on the Ontario Employment Standards Act, 2000 (ESA). It is designed for those new to Canada or new to Human Resources (HR Students, HR Aspirants) who would like to learn about the ESA. The course covers topics such as wages, hours of work, holiday, overtime, vacation, leaves, terminations with and without cause, and temporary layoffs. It also includes information on the COVID-19 Infectious Disease Emergency Leave. The course consists of four sections and eleven lectures in total. Upon completion of the course, learners will be able to identify the minimum benchmarks that apply to wages, hours of work, holiday, overtime, vacation, and leaves, as well as understand the purpose of the ESA. They will also be able to learn about different types of leaves, including sick, bereavement, declared emergency leave, and family-related leaves.
