This course provides an overview of Enterprise Architecture (EA). It explains the different benefits, characters, principles and frameworks of EA, as well as the process of developing, building, using and maintaining an EA. The Enterprise Architecture Research Forum defines EA as the continuous practice of describing the important elements of a socio-technical organization, how they are related to each other and the environment to understand complexity and manage change. The United States government classifies enterprise architecture as an Information Technology function, and defines the term as the documented outcomes from examining the enterprise. Through this course, students will gain an understanding of the different meanings of EA for different organizations, and the importance of EA in managing complexity and change.
