This course, Intarsia Knitwear Design and Creation, teaches students how to make wearable art using the intarsia technique. Students will learn how to make their own personalised sweater by combining organic shapes and harmonious colour combinations. They will be able to paint with yarn to create unique knitwear designs. The course materials include yarn, scissors, knitting needles, and a stitch holder. Students will learn how to cast on and cast off, as well as ribbing and stockinette knitting techniques. They will also learn how to use the intarsia technique to experiment with colour and measure their gauge for the perfect-fitting sweater. In preparation for knitting, students will learn how to read their diagram. Finally, they will learn how to sew their sweater's front and back pieces together, as well as how to pick up stitches for the neck and sleeves.
