Through this course, learners can gain experience and expertise in Carnatic Flute Purandara Dasa Keerthanas. They will learn the basics of Carnatic music, including the raga Mayamalavagowla, Svaravalis, Alankaras, Lakshana Geetas, Prabandhas, Ugabhogas, Daatu Varase, Geeta, and Kritis. They will also learn about Purandara Dasa's compositions, including his Dasa Sahithya, lakshya and lakshana geetas, and sooladis. Furthermore, they will gain an understanding of the standardization of varna mettus, and the fusion of bhava, raga, and laya in his compositions. In addition, they will learn about the importance of including comments on ordinary daily life and elements of colloquial language in his lyrics, as well as the introduction of folk ragas into the mainstream. Finally, they will gain an appreciation of the legacy of Purandara Dasa, and the impact of his work on Carnatic music.
