1. Understanding of Genome Organization: This course on Microbial genetics will provide learners with an understanding of the different types of genome organization and the advantages and applications of mutation and mutagens. Learners will gain an understanding of the different types of genomes, the host range, curing, replication, purification, and incompatibility of plasmids.
2. Genetic Exchange Among Microbes: Learners will gain an understanding of the mechanism of genetic exchange among microbes by recombination and the process of conjugation, transformation and transduction. They will also learn about the genetics of T4 bacteriophage and that of Transposable elements in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic systems.
3. Application of Genetics: Learners will gain an understanding of the application of genetics in the field of microbial genetics. They will learn about the different types of genetic engineering techniques and how they can be used to manipulate the genetic material of microbes. They will also learn about the different types of genetic markers and how they can be used to identify and study the genetic material of microbes.
4. Molecular Genetics: Learners will gain an understanding of the molecular genetics of microbes. They will learn about the different types of molecular techniques used to study the genetic material of microbes, such as PCR, sequencing, and cloning. They will also learn about the different types of genetic markers and how they can be used to identify and study the genetic material of microbes.
5. Evolutionary Genetics: Learners will gain an understanding of the evolutionary genetics of microbes. They will learn about the different types of evolutionary processes that can affect the genetic material of microbes, such as mutation, selection, and drift. They will also learn about the different types of genetic markers and how they can be used to identify and study the genetic material of microbes.
