In this class, students will explore the art of creating mixed media landscapes. They will have the choice of working with either watercolor or gouache, and will then bring in mixed media, such as colored pencil, markers, paint pens, or ink. Through this class, students will learn how to make choices about what to leave in and what to leave out, understand where to place the horizon line, distinguish between the foreground, middle, and background to give a landscape a sense of depth, and take a simple approach to skies. Additionally, they will discover their go-to choices for blues and greens, and learn a trick for getting over the fear of messing up a perfect blank page.
