In this Crash Course World Mythology #7, Mike Rugnetta begins a unit on pantheons, which are families of gods. The importance of pantheons is discussed, followed by an exploration of pantheons from the myths of the ancient Mediterranean, starting with ancient Sumer in Mesopotamia. The Egyptian pantheon is then examined, with the story of Osiris and his envious brother Seth. The implications of these two pantheons for the cultures where they originated are discussed. Sources for this course include David Leeming's The World of Myth: An Anthology and Thury & Devinney's Introduction to Mythology.
