This course provides an overview of the sociology of science. In the first week, students will be introduced to the field of sociology and the history of science. They will also learn about the role of social sciences in technology institutes. In the second week, students will explore the social shaping of science, the ethos of science, and the Matthew effect in science. In the third week, students will examine the structure and methodology of science, including the structure of scientific revolution, science as falsification, and scientists as indexical reasoners.
