BSL-001: Basics of Spanish Language and Culture-I is a 16-week course designed to introduce students with no prior knowledge of Spanish to the language and culture of the Spanish-speaking world. This course will provide learners with the basic Spanish language structures and socio-cultural information related to the Spanish-speaking world. Through 80 video sequences distributed in 16 modules, learners will develop their ability to understand and speak Spanish in different contexts. Upon completion of the course, learners will have acquired the A1 proficiency level as described in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL, Council of Europe). This includes the four language skills: reading comprehension, writing, listening comprehension and speaking, as well as socio-cultural competence in Spanish language. The course also includes self-learning reference materials, grammar explanations, glossaries, didactic activities, cultural notes etc. in the form of an e-Book. Learners will be able to monitor their progress by taking a number of self-evaluation assessments and a final test.
