This Specialisation in Responsive Website Development and Design will equip students with the skills to create and design websites that are optimized for any device. Students will learn the basics of modern full stack web development, from UX design to front-end coding to custom databases. They will build foundational skills in a full range of technologies, including HTML/CSS, Javascript, and MongoDB, and learn to implement a reactive, multi-user web application using the meteor.js framework. Additionally, they will touch on more advanced topics, such as APIs, data visualization, and animation.
Throughout the course, students will add several projects to their portfolio to demonstrate their skill and growth. They will create web pages using basic elements to control layout and style, use responsive web design principles to take a site from wireframe to website, implement security features, and create collaborative multi-user experiences. They will also build accessibility and usability into their responsive websites.
At the end of the Specialisation, students will have designed and launched their own fully-functioning, responsive web application. In the capstone project, they will develop a complete website using the full range of skills learned during the specialisation, work through a structured process from idea generation to product delivery, and document and receive feedback on the development of their project from an idea to a fully functional piece of software in a series of structured assignments including peer interactions.
By the end of the course, students will have the skills to create and design websites that are optimized for any device, and will have the confidence to develop their own web applications.
